How Air Purifiers Can Help You During Warmer Weather

Air PurifiersHome air purifiers offer benefits no matter what season it is. In summer, specifically, they help augment air filtration and reduce irritating and/or toxic airborne particulates and fumes that may accumulate in a sealed, air-conditioned environment.

Air purifiers also provide a secondary benefit by augmenting your air conditioning. Air circulation generated by these units can amplify a sensation of cooling in rooms.

Here’s how an air purifier can make your indoor environment healthier, as well as feel more comfortable in the warm weather.

Particle Removal

Tree and grass pollen proliferate in the warmer weather of spring and into summer. These tiny airborne particles, as well as others, infiltrate structures and may trigger allergic responses in susceptible individuals. While a central HVAC system filters all the air in the house, an air purifier can target individual rooms with higher-efficiency HEPA filtration that specifically removes microscopic particles.

More Than Just a Filter

An air purifier may include technology to mitigate indoor fumes and odors that accumulate in the enclosed, air-conditioned environment during warm weather. Additional technology in selected units includes UV light arrays that kill bacteria and viruses, as well as ionization and photocatalysts that also sterilize air.

Cooling Side Effects

While it’s not a threat to air-conditioning technology, an air purifier can make you at least feel cooler indoors. Moving air generated by a purifier enhances body-heat loss in humans, pets, and other living creatures. Like a ceiling fan, this modest, natural sensation can make a room feel a few degrees cooler than it actually is. Think of it as a very slight summer version of the winter windchill effect we’re all familiar with.

As Paitson Bros. marks a century of HVAC sales and service in the Terre Haute area, we’re ready to help with the newest technology, such as air purifiers, that keep your indoor environment both healthy and comfortable.
