Cool Dad: Father’s Day Gifts

Cool Dad: Father’s Day GiftsFather’s Day on June 17 is an opportunity to make a cool Dad feel even cooler, despite summer weather. The fact is, most guys like to receive stuff that’s sensible as well as sentimental. Creature comforts also rate high on the wish list. The pleasure of coming home to a comfortable house is a gift that won’t end up on the top shelf of a closet or stuffed in a bottom drawer.

For the guy who has (almost) everything, here are a few Father’s Day gift suggestions with an HVAC-theme:

Thermostat Upgrade

If your home still utilizes an old-school manual thermostat with moving parts like springs and mercury switches, it’s time to get smart. Today’s “smart” digital thermostats are programmable for scheduled temperature changes. They also include technology that analyzes daily routines of home occupancy, learning to adjust temperature to maintain optimum comfort automatically. Connected to your wi-fi network, users can monitor and adjust home temperatures remotely with a smartphone or tablet app, as well as chart energy usage and maximize efficiency—geeky stuff Dads tend to like.

Annual Maintenance

Annual HVAC preventive maintenance is a job for a certified field technician with specialized training and tools. Doesn’t sound like Dad? Purchasing a planned service agreement that provides annual maintenance from your HVAC contractor makes a great Father’s Day gift. The service includes procedures to reduce wear and tear, increase system service life, maximize energy efficiency and lower monthly operating costs. Because annual maintenance also helps ensure safe operation of gas-fired furnace and central A/C, the whole family will be happy it’s being handled by a pro.

Whole-House Air Cleaner

Indoor air quality affects all family members, so dads get concerned, too. A whole-house air cleaner connects to HVAC system ductwork and purifies the entire air volume inside the house as it circulates through the ducts day and night. This reduces airborne particulates like pollen that trigger allergic reactions, spores that spread mold growth and dust and dirt that makes good housekeeping harder.

Happy Father’s Day from your neighbors at Paitson Bros., serving Terre Haute since 1922.
