These Things Mean You’re Working With a Quality HVAC Business

These Things Mean You're Working With a Quality HVAC BusinessQuality customer service means different things in different industries. For the consumer, however, what’s consistent about great customer service is simply this: You recognize it when you get it and also when you don’t. In the HVAC industry, certain indicators tend to predict the level of service a particular provider is likely to deliver. Paying attention to these can help you avoid disappointing experiences including substandard installation or repair, poor heating/cooling performance, bad indoor air quality and potential warranty issues with the manufacturer of your system.

For HVAC customer service that meets your standards, look for these signs:

  • A licensed, bonded contractor. While anyone may call themselves a “contractor,” every state has specific qualifications that stipulate who really is and who isn’t. A real contractor has met the requirements for a state license–this can usually be verified at a state website online–and has invested in liability insurance, bonding and other requirements to conduct business responsibility.
  • Professional affiliations. Certain affiliations separate the professionals from those outfits that may be here and gone quickly. Most established HVAC contractors are members of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) and certified by the Environmental Protection Agency. Generally, they are likely to be authorized dealers for one of the major manufacturers of heating/cooling systems, too.
  • Trained employees. The technicians who come to your home to do the actual work should be trained to provide a high level of competent service. A reputable HVAC contractor invests in hiring service techs who have passed stringent examinations to earn the NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification for HVAC knowledge and skills.
  • Community presence. You’re more likely to get optimum customer service from an outfit with a high-profile, positive reputation in your area. You’ll recognize the name, you’ve seen their service vehicles on the road and they have a longstanding local business address. If you ask neighbors and friends, you’ll probably hear good things about the company.

At Paitson Bros., we’ve been committed to providing a high level of customer service for the homeowners of the Wabash Valley since 1922.
