5 Benefits of Hiring a NATE-Certified HVAC Technician

5 Benefits of Hiring a NATE-Certified HVAC TechnicianWhen a NATE-certified HVAC technician installs, repairs and maintains your HVAC system, you’ll know they’re completing it right the first time. Short for North American Technician Excellence, NATE is a non-profit program that tests and verifies the skills of field technicians at the front line of our industry.

Established in 1997, the NATE program has now certified over 37,000 technicians. To receive certification, candidates must pass a rigorous examination in general HVAC theory and skills, and then another test in an area of specialty in the industry. After that, hours of continuing classroom education must be accrued to ensure later re-certification.

HVAC contractors know that employing a NATE-certified technician means building a stable workforce of professionals who’ve already demonstrated a commitment to the job and the industry. Here’s what it means for homeowners that choose a certified contractor for installation and repairs:

Training and Skills

NATE-certified HVAC technicians arrive at your home already experienced in the technology and specialized tools required to service your system. You’re not getting a novice who’s learning on the job at your expense.

Industry Standard Results

In order to ensure manufacturer’s specs, HVAC equipment must be installed, maintained and repaired according to established HVAC industry procedures, standards and quality assurance. NATE techs are well-versed in professional practices, as well as specific manufacturer requirements.

Fewer Callbacks

A NATE-certified technician gets the job done right the first time and will fully test all equipment to verify proper function before completion.

Greater Efficiency, Lower Costs

A manufacturer’s published efficiency ratings and estimated savings should be a result of skilled installation and services by trained professionals. While many may claim these abilities, only a technician with NATE certification can prove it.

Good Advice

NATE techs are up to speed on the latest technology. He or she will be happy to answer questions, demonstrate functions or suggest upgrades to improve efficiency and performance.
